VLC Codenames¶
Starting from the first version of VLC to version 1.0.x, VLC codenames were based on characters from a spy film called Goldeneye because it was one of the first movies used to test VLC during its initial development phase.
However, since the launch of VLC 1.1.x till date, the VLC codenames are based on characters from a comic book series called DiscWorld by Terry Pratchett.
VLC 2.2.1 was named Terry Pratchett because it was the first release after his death.
